Halloween in the Castro
UPDATE : Here are Pictures.
If you're BARTing in from the east bay, transfer to Muni at Embarcadero Station. Just come up from BART, exit the BART turnstyles, and go across to the Muni turnstyles. Take any line OUTBOUND.
Starting at 7pm, the Castro Muni station will close, so the place to get off or on muni is just down market at the Church St. Station or at Duboce Park.
To get on MUNI you'll need a $1.25. You'll need this in as either a dollar and change or just change. If you show up with only 5's 10's or 20's you're screwed. Make sure you have $1.25 in either change or one dollar bills.
BART will be running additional trains to the east bay. The last 2 special BART trains of the evening will depart Embarcadero at 12:49am and 1:09AM. I recommend catching these trains at Civic Center or 16th St Mission.
If you're BARTing in get a round trip ticket when you leave the east bay. This way you won't have to wait in line late tonight as everybody get's their return tickets.
Seeya tonight

Bike's sold
Yesterday I sold my bike to a taxi driving ex-marine from Palo Alto. Great guy. He, his nephew and I worked for a half hour on the bike to get it ridable, he jumped on and followed us back to San Francisco and was off. I'm glad the bike has a new home with someone who'll love it.
Now to find myself a new bike. What's the dream bike that you wish you could get but aren't going to? Well my number one choice, though it's totally impractical, is a Suzuki Hayabusa. This would however get stolen before I ever really had a chance to ride it. So my number 2 choice, which I also probably won't get, is a new Honda VFR Interceptor with Antilock Brakes. I'll probably just get a '01 or '02 normal VFR. So, wish me luck.

Slashdot + Bittorrent = Biggest swarm I've ever seen
Slashdot posted a link to a bittorrent of Jon Stewart on CNN's Crossfire. As can be expected it immediately got slashdotted, however bittorrent reacts inversely to how a normal website works. The more traffic a website gets the slower it goes. The more traffic a bittorrent swarm gets, the faster it goes. I was pulling 375KBps (that's bytes, not bits) this morning over my cable modem.

Kati Voluntine turns 21! Brunch and Tea
On Monday Kati turns 21 and finally closes out the remains of the
underage so we should do something. That something, I propose, is
brunch at the Strybing Arboretum in Golden Gate Park followed by a walk
around the Japanese Tea Garden on Sunday. So to be clear, Monday is
birthday, Sunday is brunch in golden gate park.
At 11:30AM this Sunday the 10th we meet at the entrance to the Strybing
Arboretum & Botanical Gardens where Tea Garden Drive meets Martin
Luther King Jr. Dr. in Golden Gate Park.
Once everyone's there we can head into the Botanical Garden and find a
place to have some brunch.
After brunch we can walk across to the Japanese tea garden and have tea.
So, in order to make this happen you should
Pack food for brunch.
Get to the tea garden side entrance to the Strybing Arboretum by about
11:30am
Dress warmly enough for your standard day in the city
Bring $3.50 for the Tea Garden and a few more bucks if you want to get
some tea.
You can drive there. There should be parking. Get directions here
You can get there on public transit on any of these three great buses :
44
O'Shaughnessy - Hunters Point to the Richmond via Golden Gate Park
16AX
Noriega 'A' Express - Outer Sunset to Downtown
16BX
Noriega 'B' Express - Sunset to Downtown
You can plan your trip here
You can see a map of the location here
You can see a map of Golden Gate Park here
