Kati Voluntine turns 21! Brunch and Tea
On Monday Kati turns 21 and finally closes out the remains of the
underage so we should do something. That something, I propose, is
brunch at the Strybing Arboretum in Golden Gate Park followed by a walk
around the Japanese Tea Garden on Sunday. So to be clear, Monday is
birthday, Sunday is brunch in golden gate park.
At 11:30AM this Sunday the 10th we meet at the entrance to the Strybing
Arboretum & Botanical Gardens where Tea Garden Drive meets Martin
Luther King Jr. Dr. in Golden Gate Park.
Once everyone's there we can head into the Botanical Garden and find a
place to have some brunch.
After brunch we can walk across to the Japanese tea garden and have tea.
So, in order to make this happen you should
Pack food for brunch.
Get to the tea garden side entrance to the Strybing Arboretum by about
11:30am
Dress warmly enough for your standard day in the city
Bring $3.50 for the Tea Garden and a few more bucks if you want to get
some tea.
You can drive there. There should be parking. Get directions here
You can get there on public transit on any of these three great buses :
44
O'Shaughnessy - Hunters Point to the Richmond via Golden Gate Park
16AX
Noriega 'A' Express - Outer Sunset to Downtown
16BX
Noriega 'B' Express - Sunset to Downtown
You can plan your trip here
You can see a map of the location here

In case you're wondering why we're celebrating Kati's birthday on Jacob's birthday, it's cause Jacob is busy working and is postponing his birthday celebration for a week or more.

This sounds like fun. I've been wanting to go there since I moved here. However, and although our Kati isn't at all unexperienced in the ways of booze, I must strongly advocate attempting to get together at some point for an alcohol-based event to celebrate the new legal status of our lovely friend.

yeah, isn't it traditional for a 21st birthday to involve alcohol not mornings? although since i don't like either much, i'm fine with the morning.

we should all bring hipflasks and celebrate the last of her clandestine drinking opportunities, since she won't officially be legal until the next day. never again will she be drunk in a park, at least not until the revolution leaves us all homeless and angry.
