Damn blacklists
I enabled dnsbl (DNS Blacklisting) in sendmail last night. Since then, spamcop, one of the blacklist providers, has blacklisted gmail. *sigh*. Can we please not blacklist gmail or yahoo or hotmail. I've since disabled the blacklisting in sendmail and then re-enabled it here but left spamcop disabled. Sorry (Dianna) for the bounced emails.

We lose one of ours
Matt and Marla
Yesterday, Marla Ruzicka, a San Franciscan and founder of the Campaign for Innocent Victims in Conflict was killed in Iraq. The suicide bomb attack happened while she was driving to Baghdad airport to return to the states. Marla had been documenting civilian casualties in Iraq and was returning to continue lobbying for compensation to victims families. The funeral will be in Lakeport on Clear Lake. Marla was 29.

Like light and dark
I guess I see Jared Kelly as the evil version of myself. I met him at Commerce One and within the first week realized he was what would make the job suck. I, fairly early on, deemed him my nemesis. Over the year and a half working with him at Commerce One I came to have an odd relationship with him in that I still hated him but also was friends with him. I haven't known this to exist before. He can be a real ass but for some reason I still enjoyed hanging out with him, even through the inevitable abuse. So I now find myself working (as seems to now be the norm for my professional life) a yard away from him again. It's now been a bit over 6 months of working with him at the new job, and as could be expected, nothing changes. I guess at this point there's a bit of equity in the crap dealing so at least I don't feel so beat up at the end of the day, and I still consider him my friend and enjoy hanging out with him. People at my job now seem to think of us as a team. Dysfunctional, but a team.
Jared is the one on the right looking the lamest of all of us in that photo.

I've beaten him, finally I've beaten him
So today is a great day. You'll see why today is a great day if you head over to google and search for gene wood (without quotes) and look at the number one result. I've finally beaten the other Gene Wood, the game show announcer, in whom's shadow I've been living for so many years. I feel like I want to throw a pagerank party.
Well, maybe I won't. Looks like someone has only one slot to go to beat her rival, though in a sense she already has.
