What is that? Odd minimalist pseudo vocal techno?
Since I had my speakers turned up so loud, “Happy Cycling” (by Boards of Canada) is playing at an incredible volume. So loud, in fact, that the picture on my monitor is wavering (even though my speakers are 3 feet from said monitor). It can be nice to have the house to myself….
Have you heard Boards of Canada, Gene? Because I think you’d like them….

It’s a piece of a song that I recorded (a cover of an Indigo Girl’s song) back in ’94 or ’96 that I had some fun with in some sound software. It’s me an a friend of mine.
Boards of Canada, no I haven’t I’ll have to check them out. I have just added about 30 tracks by them to my edonkey download list.

edonkey? is this something cool and easy to use that I should know about, or is it geekware?

  • Gene says:

EDonkey is a peer to peer file sharing program. It is excellent. It’s fairly complicated to use. It’s like napster on steroids. Umm… somewhere between geekware and userware.

Hmmm…edonkey looks like efun. I’ll have to give it a shot. The KazaaLite client (Kazaa without spyware….who could want anything more?) has been keeping me happy for now. But I’m always looking for new toys to play with.
Let me know which BoC songs you get, and what you think of them. And if you’re interested in more, let me know and I’ll set up a server for you to grab some (or I’ll upload an album or five to cementhorizon, if that would be easier).

You know what the best part about this is? The lyric is actually “Learn to pretend there’s more than love that matters,” but you guys always sang “Learn to pretend there’s more to love than matter.” Wait, that kind of makes sense too. Maybe I’m wrong. Shit.
